The only information I have on these abrasive rolls is what’s on the label affixed to the ID. I couldn’t find any info on Diamond rolls by Ultralap. One is marked 30 Mic “F”, and the other is marked 30 mic “XSP”. (See photos of labels.) They are a slightly different color, and have a slightly different feel to the abrasive surface. A small amount may have been used. For what it’s worth, both rolls measure 3.80 on the outside diameter. What you see is what you get.
This Diamond Microfinishing Film Roll securely anchors micron-graded diamonds to a polyester film backing. Known for its strength and resilience, the polyester film backing keeps the abrasive from skidding or deflecting when run. This backing helps the superabrasive belt stay taut so that it can withstand heavy-duty finishing.
Polyester film backings are also water resistant, so the abrasive may be run with a wet surface lubricant. When used in roll form for a process like superfinishing, the roll enables slow abrasive feed rates and requires fewer steps.
