PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Mr. Scrappy disposer dual outlet air switch is used to operate a food waste disposer and one other item such as a hot water dispenser or trash compactor.  The outlets are turned on and off by air pressure created by pushing the button. The air travels from the button, through the air tube which is connected to the air switch inside the electrical box. One outlet at a time has power. Normally the disposer would be turned off and your hot water dispenser would be active in the other socket. When the air switch is pushed it will turn the power off to the hot water dispenser and turn on the power to the garbage disposal. When the switch is pressed again the disposer will turn off and the power to the hot water dispenser will turn back on.
The air switch alternates outlets in order to prevent a breaker blowout that can occur when powering on 2 items at the same time that exceed your circuit breaker’s maximum amperage. Most standard household circuit breakers can handle around 15-20 amps. If you were to power on a disposer and hot water dispenser or trash compactor at the same time, your breaker might not be able to handle the amperage, causing a blowout.
The air switch button can be installed through the sink top, the countertop, or inside the cabinet.
