Couple "Asia Usu" Baoulé - Ivory Coast

Dimensions 45.5 and 42.5 cms high.
Weight of about 0.820 kg and 0.780 kg without packaging.
Materials: Wood, pearls.
Presumed seniority: More than 30 years.
Couple of statues "Asia Usu" Baoulé, coming from the center of Ivory Coast.
Asia Usu designates a genius of the bush. The villagers sculpt such statues so that the spirit comes to inhabit them. They have to be beautiful and attractive to make it come.
The two pieces are here decorated with very fine tribal scarifications. They have glass bead necklaces at the neck, waist and ankle.
Both faces give off a deeply serene expression.
Dark and shiny patina.
