A GOOD 1900 TO 1930 DATE TRADITIONAL NEPALESE MADE TRIBAL TYPE VILLAGER KUKRI.
The blade is hollow forged from laminated carbon steel that will have undergone differential heat treat to its cutting edge as all native Nepal made kukris do, it has a v ridged spine and 2 fullers along its top side edges on both sides that reach to the slight elbow bend, it has the traditional cho - thumb prick at the end of its traditional scandi type grind cutting edge, both sides of the blade show an intricate detailed acid etch of x's and dots in between rows of lines, very unusual and not seen before on any kukri I have ever had and I have had many hundreds over years in the trade of antique edged weapons in UK.
The edge is still sharp and has no damage such as niks or rust pitting.
I have used different pics taken in different light to show this pattern so please do look closely at my pics.
The hilt is made from a dark native to nepal hard wood, it has a single crack on one side due to age and likely drying out over meany years and also has a slight damaged area to the grip ring in the form of a chip, easy to fix with some hard wax if you know how.
The tang goes through the hilt from the iron bolster - ferrule and at its pommel end if an iron plate and by its look a gold alloy washer.
The hilt is good and solid on this kukri and does not move or wobble.
Size is 16 inches from pint of plate tip to top point of pommel.
The blade is 12-1/2 inches in length and has a 1/4 inch thick spine at the hilt end which thins towards its tip.
